Children in our Honeybees room will love exploring their spacious room and outdoor space, having the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in a range of experiences. We work to foster independence and confidence through developmentally appropriate resources being provided at the child’s level. We use the Early Years Learning Framework in our play based Environment’s to work towards learning outcomes and will provide ample opportunity to encourage self-help skills.
The program in this room is child focused; based on interests, strengths, needs and developmental ages and stages of children. Our experiences are designed to meet the needs of the whole group, small groups and individual children. We believe parents play an integral role in their child’s life and learning, therefore information provided to us, combined with observations taken by educators, makes up our program. Our program also contains special interest days, cultural events and individual children’s beliefs and traditions throughout the year.
Our kindergarten program is informed by the Reggio Emilia approach, where the environment is viewed as a “third teacher” that actively shapes and supports children’s learning. We place strong emphasis on creating rich, thoughtfully prepared indoor and outdoor spaces that provoke curiosity, invite exploration, and encourage children to engage deeply with their ideas.
Through investigative, play-based experiences, children are supported to ask questions, test theories, and make sense of the world around them. These learning opportunities are intentionally designed across all environments and are responsive to children’s interests, allowing for open-ended discovery, collaboration, and critical thinking. Educators act as co-researchers alongside children, extending thinking and supporting meaningful inquiry as it unfolds.
The ability to engage with our outdoor spaces will be enhanced by the provision of wet weather overalls to all children in our day-care. These will be available daily to allow children to be outdoors, where germs are spread slower! The children will be able to choose to be a part of our regular STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and maths) program experiences such as cooking, box play and various experiments.
